There are many waterfalls in every Australian state, although the most spectacular drops are along the eastern seaboard – the Blue Mountains (NSW), Waterfall Way near Dorrigo (NSW), Lamington National Park (QLD) and Cairns region (QLD) are some of the best places to go chasing easily-accessible waterfalls.

A small but wide cascade where Carroll Creek drops over a long ledge, just before reaching Middle Harbour Creek.

Curra Brook Waterfall in the Royal National Park plunges into the ocean, just below where the Coast Track crosses Curra Brook. Best views of the falls are from the Coast Track about 700m to the north.

The Elvina Waterfall tumbles 25m down a sheer cliff. At the base of the falls is a sandy area surrounded by lush vegetation.

Lovers Jump Falls is a small and secluded waterfall near Turramurra. It's accessed by a steep and informal track.

Malanda Falls (Tutamonlin) is a wide waterfall with a popular man-made swimming pool beneath the falls. Located just over an hour south of Cairns, it's very easy to get to.

Rainbow Falls (Gudda Gumoo) is a spectacular and deep waterhole in Blackdown Tableland National Park, which is below a 40m tall waterfall. The waterhole and falls is reached by a 4.8km return walk.
