Summary: Consisting of multiple tiers, Ballunjui Falls (or Ballanjui Falls) is one of the tallest waterfalls in Lamington National Park.

Ballunjui Falls (which is often, incorrectly, spelt Ballanjui Falls) is one of the tallest waterfalls in Lamington National Park, if you include its multiple tiers. From the base of the falls you can see two of the three tiers, which drop about 108m; just above the lowest cascade is Yabbraboola Falls and above this (and not visible from here) is Booboora Falls which collectively have a drop of about 190m. Ballanjui/Bullunjui means “Easterly” in the Yugambeh language.

The lowest cascade is only about eight metres in height.

You can also reach the top of Ballunjui Falls, where Nixon Creek drops over the edge of the upper cliffs.

The Charraboomba Rock lookout (on the Ships Stern Circuit) offers a different perspsective of the falls, as you look down into the Nixon Valley.

Getting to (Lower) Ballunjui Falls

The bottom of Ballunjui Falls (yes, even the QPWS sign is spelt incorrectly!!) – which gets you the best view of the falls – is reached via a side track off the Ships Stern Circuit.

The 1.2km (return) trail follows Nixon Creek upstream to the base of the waterfall.

The Ships Stern Circuit in Binna Burra starts opposite the Lamington National Park Information Centre, near the end of Binna Burra Road.
