Summary: Booboora Falls is a scenic waterfall along the Upper Ballunjui Track, surrounded by diverse ferns. It can be accessed via multiple walking routes, including the Ship's Stern Circuit and Border Track.

Booboora Falls is a small but picturesque cascade along the Upper Ballunjui Track, which drops into a small pool. The waterfall is surrounded by umbrella ferns and a number of Blechnum species of ferns. (Booboora means “rough, scrubby country in the Yugambeh language of the traditional people.)

Although the waterfall gets its very own name, it is sometimes described as being part of Ballunjui Falls, which drops over multiple tiers into the Nixon Valley.

Getting to Booboora Falls via the Upper Ballunjui Track

Booboora Falls can be reached as a side-trip off the 19km Ships Stern Circuit – but can also be done as a separate “out and back” bushwalk via the Border Track, Daves Creek Circuit track and Upper Ballunjui Track.

The Upper Ballunjui Track passes the Ballunjui Cascades, then continues to descend through rainforest to Booboora Falls, crossing some minor creeks along the way.

The Border Track starts opposite the Binna Burra Tea House in Lamington National Park (near the end of Binna Burra Road) and connects to the Daves Creek Circuit track.
