NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is part of Department of Planning, Industry and Environment. NPWS manages more than 870 NSW national parks and reserves, covering over 7 million hectares of land.
A great bushwalk for a hot day, Glenbrook to Lapstone along Glenbrook Creek offers countless swimming opportunities and some spectacular scenery. The optional and more challenging side-trip up to Mount Portal Lookout provides some great views.
A series of spectacular swimming holes along Glenbrook Gorge are surrounded by towering cliffs, providing a feeling of remoteness and tranquillity.
Named in 2022 by Tourism Australia as the 19th best beach in Australia, Jellybean Pool in Glenbrook is very beautiful – but also gets very busy on weekends. (There are some equally spectacular swimming holes along Glenbrook nearby.)
Blue Pool is a popular and very easy-to-reach swimming hole along the Glenbrook Creek, with a wide sandy beach.
A beautiful swimming hole with a large, sandy beach along Glenbrook Creek, the Glenbrook Creek Sandbar can be reached via a couple of bushwalking routes. You can also incorporate it into a nice loop walk.
The Barrow Lookout looks out over Govetts Leap and Grose Valley. It’s reached via either the Braeside Walk or Cliff Top Track between Evans Lookout and Govetts Leap Lookout.
The Cripps Lookout along the Pulpit Rock Track in Backheath provides a view over Govetts Gorge and the Grose Valley, as well as Horseshoe Falls and Govetts Leap (Bridal Veil Falls),
A small but picturesque cascade in Blackheath, Taylor Fall is above Horseshoe Falls along Popes Glen Creek. You can cool off in the shallow pool at the base of the falls.
Boasting the second-highest drop of all the Blue Mountains waterfalls, Horseshoe Falls plunges off the cliffs at Blackheath into the valley below. It can be seen from a few lookouts along the top of the cliff.
A large lookout platform along the Pulpit Rock Track, the Horseshoe Falls Lookout provides a view over Grose Valley, and partial views of Horseshoe Falls.
