Summary: The Cripps Lookout along the Pulpit Rock Track in Backheath provides a view over Govetts Gorge and the Grose Valley, as well as Horseshoe Falls and Govetts Leap (Bridal Veil Falls),

Cripps Lookout is one of the most scenic lookouts along the Pulpit Rock Track between Govetts Leap and Pulpit Rock, as it provides a view over Govetts Gorge and the Grose Valley…

…but also both Horseshoe Falls and Govetts Leap (Bridal Veil Falls) in the distance. Both waterfalls are at their most spectacular after rain.

The lookout platform is paved and fenced.

There’s no facilites here, a small rock outcrop just above the lookout provides shelter for 2-3 people if you are caught here during a storm.

Getting to Cripps Lookout

The lookout is most easily accessed from Govetts Leap Lookout at the end of Govetts Leap Road, which is a 2.7km (4min) drive from Blackheath. From the carpark it’s about a 1.1km walk along the signposted Pulpit Rock Track, towards Pulpit Rock.
