While Ross Lookout offers a nice outlook over the Cumberland Plain to the east and Glenbrook Gorge below, the view is marred by powerlines.
The lookout has two levels, with the lower one being fenced. It’s named after Frederick Ross of Springwood, a “local identity”:
Although the view over Glenbrook Creek Gorge had long been known, the naming of the three lookouts on top of The Bluff occurred only between the wars, when Hugh Chalmers of Faulconbridge and two Glenbrook men, William Williams and Mr Ross, were commemorated for their services to the community.

Continue along the walking track – which drops into a small gully before climbing up to Bluff Lookout – for a much better view.
Getting to Ross Lookout
From the end of Emu Road (Glenbrook), follow the walking track for about 75m down to the edge of the escarpment. Emu Road is three kilometres or a 6 minute drive from the town of Glenbrook. There is a covered picnic table near the large carpark.
The walking track along the edge of the escarpment also passes Chalmers Lookout and Bluff Lookout.
