Summary: Located almost directly underneath the Queen Victoria Lookout along the Furber Steps, Lynes Point offers a view of Katoomba Falls and the Three Sisters.

The Lynes Point lookout is located just a few metres below the Queen Victoria Lookout along the Furber Steps, on a very short side-track off the main trail. The lookout is named after Sir William Lyne, who officiated the opening of the Federal Pass on 3rd November 1900 as the Premier of NSW (he later served as a Federal cabinet minister under Edmund Barton and Alfred Deakin).

As you’d expect, there’s an almost-identical view of Katoomba Falls as there is from the Queen Victoria Lookout just above.

However, while much of the Jamison Valley and Mount Solitary is blocked by trees, there’s a much better view of the Three Sisters and Reids Plateau.

Getting to Lynes Point Lookout (Furber Steps)

Access to the lookout is from Scenic World (in Katoomba), where the signposted Furber Steps descend steeply to the bottom of the valley, to meet the Federal Pass. It’s about halfway down the Furber Steps. You can re-trace your steps or take the Scenic Railway back to the top (or continue along the Federal Pass to extend the walk).

This is one of seven lookouts along the Furber Steps:
