From the creation of Belair National Park in 1891, South Australia now has over 350 parks and reserves covering over 20% of the state. Of these, 28 are national parks which are managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia (NPWSSA). Only one national park has a World Heritage listing (Naracoorte Caves National Park), but Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, Nilpena Ediacara National Park and Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park have been proposed.
Most parks are free, but eleven national parks have a vehicle entry fee and you can purchase a Multiple Entry Parks Pass (2 months or 12 months).
Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park offers a spectacular and rugged landscape, with a range of bushwalks, European colonial history and significant Aboriginal heritage.
