Rainbow Falls was my favourite waterfall in this section of Springbook National Park – and it would be more spectacular after some heavy rain. (The nearby Twin Falls is even more spectacular, but attracts a lot more people.) The waterfall gets its name from the rainbow you can see in the spray – on a sunny day! Rainbow Falls is officially called Reads Falls, and has also been referred to as Talangagong Falls.
The waterfall is formed by Ee Jung Creek cascading over the rock face.
The walking track passes under a small overhang, which is behind the waterfall.
Getting to Rainbow Falls
The waterfall is one of many along the Warrie Circuit, or it’s a very short detour from the much shorter and busier Twin Falls Circuit. The shortest access is from the Tallanbana Picnic Area, descending below the cliff-line via the Twin Falls Circuit and then turning onto the Warrie Circuit track.
The Tallanbana Picnic Area (and Canyon Lookout which is an alternate starting point) are along Springbrook Road, which is about a 90min drive from Brisbane via the Nerang–Murwillumbah Road (State Route 97) and Springbook Road (State Road 99).
