Summary: The small but wide Poondahra Falls is a picturesque waterfall along the Warrie Circuit in Springbrook National Park.

One of four waterfalls along the Little Nerang Creek East Branch in Springbook National Park, this small but wide waterfall is accessed by the Warrie Circuit trail. Many of the waterfalls in the area have indigenous names, after the traditional custodians of the land – poondahra means “middle” (presumably as it’s one of the middle waterfalls along the creek).

It’s quite a picturesque cascade even when the flow of water is quite low, but looks a lot more impressive after heavy rain.

Getting to Poondahra Falls

Poondahra Falls is about 2.5km from Canyon Lookout, or a kilometre from the start of the Warrie Circuit. It’s signposted with a very short side-track from the main track – another short scramble takes you to the base of the waterfall. The Warrie Circuit starts from either Canyon Lookout or the Tallanbana Picnic Area which are along Springbrook Road, about a 90min drive from Brisbane via the Nerang–Murwillumbah Road (State Route 97) and Springbook Road (State Road 99).
