Summary: Medang Falls (Lata Medang) is a picturesque waterfall with a deep swimming hole, reached by a 3-4 hour jungle trek.

A short distance upstream of the small Lubuk Mecu cascade is the Medang Falls, or Lata Medang. The river drops about 20m over multiple tiers, surrounded by unspoilt Malaysian jungle. (Unlike many other Malaysian jungle hikes, there was no rubbish around the waterfall.)

The falls are perfect for a swim, with a deep pool below the cascading water.

Getting to Medang Falls (Lata Medang)

It’s a relatively long hike to the waterfall through the jungle, with the hiking trail starting from a parking area off Highway 55 in Kuala Kubu Bharu (Selangor). Allow about a 90min for the drive from KL and 1.5-2 hours each way for the hike. Allow some time at the waterfall for a swim.
