Diamond Falls is perhaps better known as a Blue Mountains sport climbing location than a waterfall… located on the western side of Narrow Neck Plateau near Katoomba, it’s formed by Diamond Creek dropping over the escarpment. The waterfall is said to get its name from westerly winds that whips up the water to create a spray of droplets that look like diamonds.
The waterfall has a drop of about 100m onto a wide ledge, before cascading another 250m down the side of Narrow Neck to eventually flow into Megalong Creek.
Getting to Diamond Falls
The waterfall is reached from the northern side by a fairly distinct climbers track, which starts at the Narrow Neck carpark, and drops below the upper cliff-line before following a wide ledge to the falls. It’s about a 2km return walk from the carpark, with a couple of slightly exposed sections along the ledge.
