Summary: A less-visited trig station in the northern beaches near Bungan Head, Bushranger Trig is on a small rock platform and offers great ocean views.

One of Sydney’s historical trig markers, Bushranger Trig is located in a small bush reserve near Bungan Head, which is now surrounded by houses. There is a great view of Bungan Beach and North Mona Vale Headland, filtered by the scrub that would have been cleared decades ago.

The trig itself sits on a small rock outcrop; the original trig consisted of a stone cairn, while the current trig has a concrete base and metal post and vanes (the nameplate is missing).

Getting to Bushranger Trig

Although it’s only a short walk to the trig station, it’s not the easiest trig to find… walk up the driveway shared by 11 & 13 Bungan Head Road (which is off Myola Road). At the top of the driveway, an informal bush track winds up to the top of the small hill.
