Summary: A very easy-to-reach lookout along Springbrook Road, Wunburra Lookout offers sweeping views out to the Gold Coast.

Wunburra Lookout is the first signposted lookout when you enter the Springbrook section of Springbrook National Park. A very short walk takes you to the fenced lookout platform, which offers a panoramic view out to the east. Directly ahead are the rolling green hills and valleys surrounding the Hinze Dam, which was formed by the damming of the Nerang River and is the main drinking water supply for the Gold Coast region. Further to the east and beyond the national park is the distinctive Gold Coast skyline.

Wunburra Lookout is named after an Aboriginal word which means “Run up hill – hunting dog”.

Getting to Wunburra Lookout

The lookout is next to Springbrook Road, just after the two one-way sections of the forked road converge as you enter Springbrook National Park. A parking area is located on the right-hand side of the road in front of the Springbrook Visitor Centre; cross the road and walk about 50m downhill to the lookout. It’s about a 45min drive from the Gold Coast or a 90min drive from Brisbane via the Nerang–Murwillumbah Road (State Route 97) and Springbook Road (State Road 99).
