Located just off the Prince Henry Cliff Walk in Leura, the Majestic Lookout was first photographed in around 1900 when it appeared in the Tyrell collection as “Kanimbla Valley from Katoomba”. The name Majestic Lookout was first used in the Tourist Map of Katoomba and Leura in 1942.
From the lookout there’s a view through Leura Gap of the Jamison Valley and Mount Solitary.
Getting to Majestic Lookout
The lookout can be reached via the Prince Henry Cliff Walk, either:
- from Cliff Drive at Katoomba (opposite the old Solitary Restaurant), and then taking the short, signposted track to the cliff-top lookout (after passing Fossil Rock Lookout). This is about 0.6km return.
- from the Leura Cascades Picnic Area via the Leura Cascades and Evelyns Lookout, which is a longer but very scenic bushwalk. This is about 1.7km return.

This is a great view but I think you might be mistaken about the name. Majestic Lookout is a different lookout located very close to this one, but on the escarpment above it on the closed part of Prince Henry Cliff Walk about 40 metres north of this lookout. Officially it is not accessable as the track towards Leura Falls Creek has collapsed. Bridal Veil Falls is not visible from Majestic Lookout, but the view towards the cliff face is great.

yes I think you’re correct… I recall when I added this lookout there was inconsistent information on the location. I will go back out over the next couple of weeks and correct this!
