Situated right on the border of Queensland and NSW in Springbrook National Park, the Best of All Lookout is reached via a short, paved walking trail through beautiful Gondwana rainforest.
Just before the lookout at the end of the trail is an Antarctic Beech forest (Nothofagus): these large trees are an important Gondwana relict of the rainforests of the southern hemisphere.
The Best of All Lookout at the end of the trail provides panoramic views (on a clear day!) out to Numinbah, the Nightcap Range and Mount Warning, and along the coastline from Coolangatta to Byron Bay. There’s a great view of the distinctive Mount Warning, a lava plug at the centre of the erosion caldera of the extinct Tweed shield volcano.
The fenced lookout platform has an interpretative sign with some geological history of the area and the features that you can see along the horizon.
The lookout is often shrouded by cloud, with the escarpment having its own microclimate – but even on a cloudy day it’s a nice outlook that’s worth a visit.

It’s an easy return walk that you can do in under half an hour – but allow some time to take in the view.
Getting to the Best of All Lookout
The paved walking trail to the lookout starts from the end of Repeater Station Road in Springbrook, where there are two carparks – a small parking area with very limited spaces right next to the trailhead, and a much larger one a short distance back along the road. It’s about a 45min drive from the Gold Coast or a 90min drive from Brisbane via the Nerang–Murwillumbah Road (State Route 97) and Springbook Road (State Road 99).
