Located on the crest of the mountain along the Mt Penang to Gosford water pipeline is a small group of Aboriginal engravings. Unfortunately many of the figures were damaged during the construction of the pipeline. A large kangaroo is right next to the trail on a small rock platform.
The kangaroo has an unusual head: “There are several other kangaroos in the Kariong area showing this unusual frontal view. The head is also separate from the body as is the case with the small kangaroo in the north section of this group about 500 m. distant from this one.” (Bob Pankhurst)
Above the kangaroo is an eel, which is in better condition than the roo.
Bob Pankurst documented and photographed some additional figures, including a “human like figure” and two fish.
