Summary: The Wairere Falls or Te Wairoa Falls is a 30m waterfall within the Buied Village, accessed by a short walk.

Not to be confused with the 150m Wairere Falls near Matamata, this smaller waterfall – also called the Te Wairoa Falls – is within the Buried Village near Rotorua. (The Buried Village is New Zealand’s most visited archaeological site, where the village of Te Wairoa and its world-famous Pink and White Terraces were destroyed by the eruption of Mt Tarawera in 1886.)

The Wairere Falls are formed by the Te Wairoa stream flowing over the Waitoharuru Cliffs before reaching Lake Tarawera.
