Informally called the Valley Heights Waterfall, this small cascade is located along an unnamed creek in the lower Blue Mountains suburb of Valley Heights. It has a very small drop, and is best visited after some decent rain.
The waterfall drops into a large pool, which has is deep enough in the middle for a refreshing swim on a warm day.
Getting to Valley Heights Waterfall
The easiest way to get to the Valley Heights Waterfall and pool is from Waratah Road, following the fietrail for about 1.2km down to the creek. A short bushwalking track goes to the top of the waterfall, and a rough and steep track descends to the pool on the right-hand side of the waterfall.
It’s about 2.6km return to the waterfall from the road – or you can extend the walk by doing the Valley Heights Firetrail Loop (using either the firetrails or walking along the creek for a more adventurous route).
The trailhead on Waratah Road (near the junction with Green Parade) is about a 14km (15min) from the end of the M4 freeway at Emu Plains or 32km (30min) from Katooomba. It’s also accessible via public transport with a 1km walk from the Valley Heights station on the Blue Mountains Line (BMT).
