Sugarloaf Creek Falls – a picturesque suburban waterfall

Located along Sugarloaf Creek in the Castlecrag Northern Escarpment, the small but picturesque Sugarloaf Creek Falls is located in a small gully between Sugarloaf Crescent and Sunnyside Crescent in Castlecrag. Sugarloaf Creek flows into the reserve from the western escarpment and has a fairly small catchment area, so the falls are best seen after rain – but after heavy or sustained rainfall the approach to the falls gets very muddy.

Getting to Sugarloaf Creek Falls

There are few ways to reach the waterfall, although there is no official or signposted track. From the popular Harold Reid Foreshore Walk in Middle Cove it’s about a 0.7km (return) detour via a rough track that drops steeply into the gully…

…before crossing Camp Creek and Sugarloaf Creek via two makeshift bridges.

Alternatively, there is another informal track from Sugarloaf Crescent in Castlecrag which descends to Sugarloaf Creek.
