Summary: A steep descent takes you down to the Silver Cascades, a picturesque waterfall and swimming hole.

Situated above the higher and more spectacular Victoria Falls, Silver Cascades is formed by Victoria Creek cascading over many tiers into a pool. Named sometime in the late 1890s, the waterfall gets its name from the silvery effect as the water flows over the dark rocks.

It’s a solid (2km) walk down to the waterfall and pool, where you can enjoy a swim on a warmer day – but you’re unlikely to have the place to yourself! (The walking track continues to Victoria Falls, and then along the Grose Valley past Burra Korain to the Blue Gum Forest.)

Getting to Silver Cascades

The waterfall is reached via the Victoria Falls walking track, and is about 2km one-way – but with a descent of about 360m. The track can be a bit rough in places, but is easy to follow and side-track to the base of the cascades is signposted.

The start of the walk is from the carpark at the end of Victoria Falls Road, which is 5.1km (10min drive) from the Great Western Highway, and 6.3km (12min drive) from Mount Victoria Station.
