Rocky Crossing in the Barrington Tops National Park has a multitude of stunning cascades along the Williams River. Walking up from the bottom, the first one you see is a narrow but deep channel carved through the moss-covered rocks and surrounded by ferns.
Above this channel is another set of cascades, where the Williams River tumbles over the the rocks.
Downstream of the cascades, the Williams River winds through a series of mudstone terraces.
Swimming at Rocky Crossing Cascades
Just above the main cascades is a tranquil pool surrounded by rainforest; at the far end of the pool is another small cascade. Although the pool is not very deep, this is a nice spot for a refreshing swim.
Getting to Rocky Crossing Cascades
You can walk up the Williams River to the Rocky Crossing Cascades along the Rocky Crossing track from the Williams River Day Use Area trailhead (about 7km one-way).
The shortest way to reach the cascades is to take the steep track down from the Lagoon Pinch Picnic Area (1km).
