Summary: The tall and powerful Red Coral Waterfall in northern Bali plunges into a shallow pool, surrounded by dense rainforest.

The best-known and most-visited of the Munduk waterfalls, Red Coral Waterfall is sometimes also known as the Munduk Waterfall. Although it’s unlikely to be crowded, you probably won’t have this waterfall to yourself! The very narrow plunge waterfall has a drop of about 50m, and is completely framed by a thick vertical carpet of green leaves. You can walk up to the base of the powerful waterfall, and there is a shallow pool at the bottom which you can cool off in.

Red Coral Waterfall is accessed via a paved hiking path from Jalan Munduk or Jalan Kayu Putih – Munduk, the main road through the valley. There’s a small entry fee to visit the waterfall, and you can buy water. The shortest route is 500m one-way, or you can do the Munduk Waterfall Trek which passes multiple waterfalls along the same river:

Getting to the Red Coral Waterfall

The quickest way from Jalan Munduk (or Jalan Kayu Putih – Munduk) which is the main road through the valley is from the Munduk Waterfalls Trekking Point, via a signposted, paved path. A longer hiking path links all of the waterfalls, which you can do as a one-way hike – ideally by getting dropped off at the top of the valley and picked up at the bottom.
