Summary: The tallest waterfall in Samoa, Papapapaitai Falls can be seen from a viewing area along the Cross Island Road.

This tall waterfall near Apia is very easy to get to – but you can only see Papapapaitai Falls (or Tiavi Waterfall) from a fair distance away. A small viewing area next to the Cross Island Road provides a view of the falls.

At 100m in height, Papapapaitai Falls is the tallest waterfall in Samoa. There doesn’t seem to be any way to reach the base of the falls at the bottom of the very steep gorge – although I have read of a track 100m from lookout, I couldn’t find it.

Getting to Papapapaitai Falls

The small parking area and lookout is signposted along the Cross Island Road, about 14km (20min) from Apia. There is no fee to to view the falls – one of only two free waterfalls in Samoa.
