Summary: While Lower Kalimna Falls has a fairly small drop, it's unusual as it drops off a wide ledge that allows you to walk behind the falls.

One of two waterfalls on the Kalimna Falls Circuit, the Lower Kalimna Falls along Sheoak Creek drops off a wide ledge into a large, shaded pool.

It’s a picturesque waterfall, and unusual as you can walk behind the falls along below a wide ledge.

The large pool is deep enough to swim, especially around the base of the falls.

Getting to Lower Kalimna Falls

This is one of the more popular waterfalls around Lorne, along with Phantom Falls; expect to see a few people here. It’s reached from the Sheoak Picnic Area via a 5.6km return bushwalk; or the 9.4km Kalimna Falls loop that also passes Upper Kalimna Falls.

The Sheoak Picnic Area (which is the starting point for a number of bushwalks) is 4.3km (10min drive) from Lorne and the Great Ocean Road.

You can also visit Lower Kalimna Falls via the longer 18.6km Lorne Waterfalls Circuit, which passes five waterfalls.
