Summary: A very small cascade along Hazelbrook Creek, just above Oakland Falls.

A very small waterfall along Hazelbrook Creek, Lena Falls drops a couple of metres over a ledge. It’s only visible from above, via a short track off the Burgess Falls Track.

The waterfall was named after Helena (Lena) Dorothea Russell née Adams, who was the daughter of Frederick Thomas Adams, a member of the Hazelbrook Sights and Reserves Trusees from March 1916 to January 1938. Despite the waterfall’s dimunitive size, it was shown on one of the earliest maps of Horseshoe Falls Reserve.

Getting to Lena Falls

The waterfall is along the Burgess Falls Track, a track was constructed around 1918 from Horseshoe Falls to Winbourne Road via two newly-named waterfalls, Oaklands Falls and Burgess Falls. The trailhead is about 1:30min drive from Sydney, or 5 minutes from Hazelbrook town centre. It’s about a 2km return walk to Lena Falls, or 4.5km for the scenic Burgess Falls Track bushwalk which passes these falls.
