Summary: You'll see a small waterfall and some cascades along the trail through the Kanmangafuchi Abyss, which is close to the cente of Nikko.

Formed by the eruption of nearby Mount Nantai, Kanmangafuchi Abyss is a narrow gorge near central Nikko. A trail follows the Daiya River through the gorge; cascading into the river is a small stream, which forms a nice waterfall. There are a few cascades along the river.

Getting to Kanmangafuchi Abyss

The closest public transport option is a Tobu bus bound for Chuzenjiko Onsen or Yumoto Onsen, which is a 15min walk to the trail from the Tamozawa bus stop. It’s a 30 minute walk from Toshogu Shrine and a 35min walk from Nikko Station.
