Summary: A small waterfall along the Nature Track and Valley of the Waters Track in the Blue Mountains, Isobel Falls is best visited after some decent rain.

Isobel Falls is the first waterfall you encounter on the spectacular Valley of the Waters Track, formed by Isobel Creek dropping over a few tiers. It’s best visited after heavy rain, otherwise the creek can be just a trickle. The falls were named after Isobel Kendall Bowden, a local school teacher, conservationist and local historian, in October 2003.

The upper tier of the falls is just above the Nature Track, near the junction of the Valley of the Waters Track. A picnic table is located nearby.

The bottom tier is just above the Valley of the Waters Track.

The track crosses Isobel Creek just below the waterfall via a set of stepping stones.

Getting to Isobel Falls

The easiest way to reach this small waterfall is via the Valley of the Waters Track from the Conservation Hut at the end of Fletcher St in Wentworth Falls. You can also get here from the Nature Track which has a trailhead on Bate St and Valley Road. Wentworth Falls is 95km (1:30min) from Sydney or 8km (10min) from Katoomba. Continue along the Valley of the Waters Track for seven more waterfalls…
