Summary: Henderson Falls is a scenic waterfall in the Otways, accessible via a 3.9km walk from Sheoak Picnic Area or a longer 8.7km loop.

This small but picturesque waterfall in the Otways cascades over multiple tiers into a shallow pool (you can go up to the base of the falls, but the pool is not deep enough to swim in).

The waterfall is in a small grotto, surrounded by ferns, and offers a shaded and scenic spot for a break.

Getting to Henderson Falls

The most direct route to the waterfall is from the Sheoak Picnic Area along Allenvale Road, which is an easy 3.9km return walk that you can do in under an hour. (You’ll also pass Won Wondah Falls which has a timber viewing deck – but you can barely see the waterfall through the vegetation.)

The Sheoak Picnic Area (which is the starting point for a number of bushwalks) is 4.3km (10min drive) from Lorne and the Great Ocean Road.

You can also visit Henderson Falls via an 8.7km loop that passes The Canyon and Phantom Falls – or the even longer 18.6km Lorne Waterfalls Circuit.
