Located at the end of the once-forgotten Happy Valley Track, this secluded pool surrounded by ferns offers an idyllic place for a swim. (The original track, established in the late 1920s, fell into disuse before being rehabilitated and signposted in the 1990s.)
At the top of the pool, Waterfall Creek drops over a small ledge, forming a picturesque waterfall.
While there is a very small chance of urban runoff reaching Waterfall Creek after heavy rain, the creek (which forms part of the Colo River catchment) was rated as having excellent ecological health.
Getting to Happy Valley
A signposted track starts on Mount Irvine Road at Mount Wilson, opposite the Happy Valley Picnic Area. The shaded track descends through beautiful rainforest; at the end there’s a small scramble down to the creek, with a narrow ledge (on the left-hand side of Waterfall Creek) providing access to the pool.

It’s only a 2km return walk – with a total ascent/descent of about 180m. You can return the same way, or extend the bushwalk by returning via Cathedral Creek.
