Located along Hazelbrook Creek in Hazelbrook, Glow Worm Nook Falls consists of three separate drops. The lower or bottom falls is the most picturesque, and gives the waterfall its name as glow worms were found here.
You can walk under the large overhang and behind the waterfall.
The middle tier is least impressive, as is more a small cascade than a waterfall.
The Glow Worm Nook Falls Upper tier is quite photogenic, with the creek cascading into a small, fern-filled grotto.
Glow Worm Nook Falls is a permanent waterfall, but is best visited after decent rainfall.
Getting to Glow Worm Nook Falls
One of the first walking tracks in the area was the Glow Worm Nook track, which is thought to have been constructed in 1918.
There is a rough track from Horseshoe Falls, starting from either Alston Park or Oaklands Road, which passes all three tiers of the Glow Work Nook Falls – but a bit of off-track scrambling is required to get to the base of each of the tiers. The trailheads are about 1:30min drive from Sydney, or 5 minutes from Hazelbrook town centre. It’s about a 1.6km return walk, or 4.5km for the scenic Burgess Falls Track bushwalk which passes these falls.
