Summary: Chisuji Falls (Chisuji no taki) - the waterfall of a thousand strands - is a small but wide waterfall in the Hakone area.

Easily reached via a short hiking trail, Chisuji Falls (Chisuji no taki) in the Hakone area translates to “the waterfall of a thousand strands”.

The waterfall is about 20m wide, but only three metres tall, with the water dropping in many separate lines or strands down the moss-covered ledge.

Despite its relatively small size, the waterfall is quite pictureseque, and has a few picnic tables nearby where you can enjoy the view and solitude.

Getting to Chisuji Falls

The waterfall is most easily reached from Kowakudani Station, where the route to the falls (and Mount Sengen) is signposted (1.9km return). You can also reach the waterfall from Sounzan ropeway station (4.6km return). A very pleasant and scenic one-way walk over Mount Sengen passes Chisuji Falls.
