While Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way is better known for its coastal scenery, the route passes the picturesque Aasleagh Falls along the River Erriff.
Located just upstream of Killary Harbour, the river is popular for fishing, particularly salmon around June when they can be seen making their way upstream.

A viewing platform accessed via a signposted walking trail provides a view over the top of the waterfall – and the verdant surrounding countryside.

Getting to Aasleagh Falls
Aasleagh Falls is located on the eastern edge of Killary Harbour in County Mayo, about 4km north-east of Leenaun Two along the R335 (there is parking on the western side of the R335). You can get a good view of the waterfall from the bridge, where the road crosses the River Erriff.
To get closer to the falls, follow the signposted walking track which starts on the eastern side of the river (there is also a trail on the western side, but it goes through private property).
Follow the wide trail until you reach the elevated viewing platform.
