Located on top of a hill in Braye Park on the outskirts of Newcastle, the Waratah Trig is well preserved with its metal post and vane intact. There are some filtered views through the trees over the surrounding suburbs. The small reserve has some dog-friendly walking trails, and a children’s playground.

The small park has some picnic tables and a metal disc pointing out distant landmarks (many of which are now obscured by trees).

Getting to the Waratah Trig
The trig station is about 4km west of Newcastle in the suburb of Waratah, with parking along Boomerang St (off Edith St) at the top of the hill.
