Summary: A short walk from Mt Kosciuszko Road in East Jindabyne, the Snowy Trig offers great views over Lake Jindabyne.

Above Lake Jindabyne is the Snowy Trig, unofficially called the Jindabyne East Trig. Although it’s not really long enough to call this a bushwalk, the short hike up to the trig point is worth a stop if you’re driving from Cooma to Jindabyne. There’s an expansive view over Lake Jindabyne and the Snowy Mountains beyond the lake.

The trig itself is in pretty good condition, with steel post and vanes intact.

You’ll get similar views from here as you would from the Tyrolean Sunset Hill, which has been described as “probably the most picturesque spot in Jindy”. However, the Snowy Trig is a bit higher up – and you’ll probably have this scenic spot to yourself!

Getting to the Snowy Trig

If you have a 4WD, you can get a bit closer to the trig by following the service trail… I’d suggest parking along Mt Kosciuszko Road, and then walking along the vehicle track until you can see the trig point on the hill. You can then head directly up the hill through the low grass until you reach the top – or look out for a few rough tracks up to the trig.

It’s about an 800m return walk from the main road.
