Summary: The Kinder Low trig pillar, a second order trig point located on the Kinder Scout plateau, offers scenic views and can be accessed via multiple hiking trails, including Pennine Way.

The Kinder Low trig pillar is on a subsidiary summit at the south-west end of the Kinder Scout plateau, and is a popular hiking destination being just next to the Pennine Way. (It’s not the highest point on Kinder Scout; the true summit is an unmarked point about 900m to the north east which is three metres higher.)

The concrete pillar is a second order trig, constructed on top of a small boulder.

There are sweeping views from the Kinder Low trig over the Peak district.

Getting to Kinder Low Trig

There a number of trails that pass the Kinder Low Trig, with the Jacobs Ladder footpath from Barber Booth or the Old Nags Head (Edale) via the Pennine Way being the most common. You can also approach it from the west, ascending to the Kinder Scout plateau from Hayfield. Or from Snake Pass via Snake Pass to the north, which is a longer hike but has less elevation gain.
