Summary: A trig point with spectacular views, Hargreaves Trig is located at Hargraves Lookout near Blackheath. A short walk to the end of Panorama Point accesses the trig.

Located near the end of Shipley Plateau in Blackheath on Panorama Point, the Hargreaves Trig has commanding views over the Megalong Valley.

The trig station is in good condition, with metal post and vanes intact on a concrete base. There is no nameplate.

A wire is attached from the top of the post, most likely for additional security against strong winds.

Getting to Hargreaves Trig

The trig station is reached via a short walk down from Hargraves Lookout (yes, it’s spelt differently – I’m not sure why), and is located just above the lowest fenced lookout platform. The Hargraves Lookout carpark is about 7.5km (15min) from Blackheath, via Shipley Road – the last couple of kilometres are unsealed but suitable for all cars.
