Summary: Corang Trig was on top of Corang Peak, but there is no trace left of the trig station. However, there are spectacular 360-degree views from the top of the hill.

Corang Trig is located on the top of Corang Peak in Morton National Park, and offers sweeping views over the national park and out to the coastline.

Many prominent peaks are visible from Corang Trig, in particular the distinctive Didthul / Pigeon House Mountain (TS3727 PIGEON HOUSE) to the south-east.

To the south is Currockbilly Mountain (TS1756 CURROCKBILLY), Bolaro Mountain and Mount Mogood (TS6056 MOGOOD) – and barely visible on the horizon is Gulaga / Mount Dromedary (TS1877 DROMEDARY)

There is no evidence of the original station; a large, rock cairn marks the site of Corang Trig. The name “Corang” may be derived from the Aboriginal name for Moreton Bay Ash, a species of tree that is endemic to north-eastern Australia (but is not found as far south as Morton National Park).

Getting to Corang Trig

Corang Peak and its long-gone trig station is reached via the Wog Wog Walking Track (or Scenic Rim Walking Track) from the Wog Wog Campground, on the western side of Morton National Park. It’s generally visited as an out-and-back walk to Corang Arch, or a loop walk to Corang Arch and back via the Corang River.

Wog Wog campground is on Charleys Forest Road:

  • From Sydney the quickest route is via the Hume Highway; it’s 96km (1:15min drive) from the Marulan exit and 2.5-3 hours from Sydney
  • From the south coast there is access via Braidwood Road; it’s about 170km (2 hour drive) from Wollongong
  • From Canberra it’s about 125km (1:30min drive) via the Kings Highway and Nerriga Road.
