Summary: Castle Cliff Trig is located on Narrow Neck in the Blue Mountains, and offers spectacular 180-degree views.

If there was a competition for the trig station with the most spectacular view, the Castle Cliff trig would be on the podium! Located just before the end of Castle Head along Narrow Neck, there are spectacular views over the Jamison and Megalong valley, with Mount Solitary directly ahead.

The trig itself consists of a standard metal post and metal vanes, and is in fairly good condition.

Just below the trig is “Castle Cliff Old” – the previous trig which was a rock cairn with mast and vanes. It was unpiled on the 17th of December 1975 – only the steel plug is still in place, and the old vanes lying beneath it in the scrub.

Getting to Castle Cliff Trig

The trig is easily reached via the Narrow Neck Plateau Trail, and then the signposted Castle Head Track which follows the top of the ridge. It’s about 4.6km return from the Narrow Neck carpark (at the locked gate) or 9.2km if you’re starting at Cliff Drive.
