Summary: A very simple trig station consisting of a metal plug in a sandstone block, Bradleys Trig is "hidden in plain site" on Bradleys Head.

It’s a little ironic that near Bradleys Trig are some of the best views of Sydney Harbour and the city – but there are no longer any views from the trig station. Bradleys Trig is somewhat underwhelming, consisting of a metal plug in a sandatone block, hidden between the road and a circular gun pit that dates back to the 1830s. (The initial sandstone firing wall and gun pit were built under the supervision of Captain George Barney using convict and hired labour in 1839–1841, and expanded under Colonial Architect James Barnet in 1871 to include three gun pits.)

Only a few hunded metres from the trig is Bradleys Head Amphitheatre, a popular lookout and picnic spot, and the Bradleys Head Walk which links Taronga Zoo and Chowder Bay as it meanders along the harbour foreshore.

Getting to Bradleys Trig (Bradleys Head)

Bradleys Trig is near the end of Bradleys Head Road in Mosman; the closest parking is opposite the Rifle Wall, or continue to the end of the road to the Amphitheatre where there is additional parking. A fee applies if you don’t have a National Parks Pass.
