On the Nepean River – next to where Euroka Creek flows into the Nepean – is a small clearing with a sandy beach. It’s not a particularly popular swimming spot, as there’s a 2.6km (return) bushwalk to get there, although it’s also accessible by small watercraft. It’s a pleasant and shaded spot and a good option for a swim if you’re staying at the Euroka Campground.
The Nepean River has variable water quality, and swimming is generally not recommended for up to three days after its rained: “Location is susceptible to faecal pollution and microbial water quality is not always suitable for contact”.
Getting to the Nepean River from Euroka Campground
There are two walking tracks down to the Nepean River from the Euroka Campground, which can be combined into a loop. The Bennetts Ridge Trail starts as a firetrail from the locked gate near the Bennetts Ridge Campsite and is fairly flat, until it reaches the junction with a walking track that descends fairly steeply to the Nepean River. The Nepean River walking track follows Euroka Creek, descending from the Darug camping area through a narrow canyon and Fairlight Gorge before reaching the Nepean.
Both tracks converge just above the river, and start fairly close to each other at the Euroka Campground.
Euroka Campground is about a 6km drive (15min) from Glenbrook, via The Oaks Trail and Euroka Road (all on sealed roads).
