Summary: Corang Lagoon, a scenic swimming hole near Morton National Park, is accessible via a re-routed track due to private land closures affecting the historic walking path.

Situated on the edge of Morton National Park and bordered by private property, Corang Lagoon is a deep and picturesque swimming hole along the Corang River.

The lagoon has been the focus of some lobbying to “Save Corang Lagoon” as the historic 1960s walking track from Wog Wog to Corang Lagoon (and Twin Falls) crosses private land and is now closed. The land to the south and west of the lagoon was gazetted as leasehold land from around 1942, and converted to freehold land in 2011. Since 2018 the owners have erected very clear boundary fencing and have not allowed bushwalker to access the pre-existing track.

Getting to Corang Lagoon

The lagoon is still accessible to bushwalkers, via a re-routed track that follows the national park boundary. From the Wog Wog Campground on Charleys Forest Road (on the western side of Morton National Park) follow the Wog Wog Walking Track (or Scenic Rim Walking Track) for about 4.5km, then turn onto the Wog Wog to Corang Lagoon Track. There is a campsite on the Corang River on the way to the lagoon. You also visit the lagoon via a short detour on the one or two-day Corang Arch loop bushwalk.
