Summary: A fairly quiet lookout on the western escarpment of Mount Victoria, Sunset Rock Lookout provides nice views over the Kanimbla Valley.

There’s limited parking for Sunset Rock Lookout in Mount Victoria – but it’s also much less-known than other of the lookouts in the area. There are nice views out over the Kanimbla Valley and Mount Blackheath from the unfenced rock outcrop on the edge of the escarpment.

To the north-west is Victoria Pass.

It’s a nice lookout as it’s fairly quiet and feels remote, although it’s reached via a fairly short walk. The nearby Mitchells Ridge Lookout offers slightly less-obstructed views, and easier access.

Getting to Sunset Rock Lookout (Mount Victoria)

The lookout is reached from the end of Beaufort Avenue, where there is an obvious walking track that descends to the end of the cliff-line. It’s best to park at the top of Beaufort Avenue where it joins Grand View Road, which is 1.2km from Mount Victoria station and 18km (20km drive) from Katoomba.
