Summary: Rileys Mountain Lookout is the highest of a series of lookouts in Mulgoa (the most eastern section of the Blue Mountains) which overlook the Nepean River.

Located on the edge of Rileys Mountain at the foot of the Blue Mountains, Rileys Mountain Lookout is the highest of multiple vantage points that overlook Nepean Gorge and the Nepean River. While you get similar views over the river as the other lookouts (The Rock Lookout and Nepean Narrows Lookout), you can see more of the Blue Mountains National Park stretching for over 20km to the south…

…and even further out to the west.

There’s a steep drop along the large, unfenced rock platform, so take care with children.

Getting to Rileys Mountain Lookout

The lookout is reached by a 5km return bushwalk along the Rileys Mountain Track, from the end of Fairlight Road at the foot of the Blue Mountains.

The relatively easy walk is on a firetrail – mountain bikes and horses are also allowed – with a short, signposted track leading to the cliffop lookout.

The carpark and start of the trail is at the end of Fairlight Road, which is a 20km (25min drive) from Penrith, or 17km (20min) from the M4 Penrith motorway exit. The last 3km of the road is unsealed, but suitable for all vehicles.
