Summary: Junction View Scenic Overlook is a turn-out on Kings Canyon Scenic Byway (Highway 180), which offers some great Sierra views.

Located along the Kings Canyon Scenic Byway (Highway 180), Junction View Scenic Overlook provides a great view down Kings Canyon. From the roadside turnout you can see Rodger’s Ridge, Spanish Mountain, Deer Ridge, Deer Canyon, Crown Rock, Silver Spur, South Fork Kings River, Mt Harrington, Grand Dike and University Peak.

A sign – “The Kings Canyon: A Wonderland of Unique Geology” – provides some information on the geology of the canyon.

Getting to Junction View Scenic Overlook

The lookout is right next to Highway 180 between General Grant Village and Roads End, on the eastern side of the road (ie. it’s easier to stop driving up towards Grant Grove Village

Note: Part of the Kings Canyon Scenic Byway (from the Hume Lake turn off to Roads End) is closed during the winter, generally from November to April. The actual dates vary due depending on weather conditons and are determined by the State Highway Department, CalTrans.
