Summary: Located on the western side of Inspiration Point, Gladstone Lookout offers a great view over the Jamison Valley to Mount Solitary.

Gladstone Lookout is on the western side of Inspiration Point, and offers a great view over the Jamison Valley and out to Mount Solitary to the south.

To the west is Sublime Point (Copeland Pass descends from the end of Sublime Point to the Lindeman Pass at the base of the cliffs).

The lookout gets its name from the Gladstone Colliery in the valley below (which was named after William Ewart Gladstone, a British statesman, Liberal Party politician and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom for 12 years).

Getting to Gladstone Lookout

The easiest way to reach Gladstone Lookout (and the nearby Moya Point Lookout) is from the Fairmont Resort in Leura, via the Grand Cliff Top Walk. Two trails head to the the two lookouts on the opposite sides of Inspiration Point; the “Gladstone Lookout Track” is not well maintained and the start is a bit tricky to find, while the Inspiration Point Track is well signposted.

If you’re heading up (or down) Roberts Pass, the lookout is a very short detour.
