Summary: George Phillips Lookout is a large, fenced looked overlooking the Grose Valley at Blackheath. It's reached via a short (0.6km) paved track from Govetts Leap, or the 2.2km Fairfax Heritage Walk.

A short walk from the popular Govetts Leap Lookout, the George Phillips Lookout provides sweeping views over the Grose Valley from a large, fenced platform.

The lookout offers a view down the Grose Valley toward Mount Banks and Govetts Gorge. Almost directly below you can see the Laws Lookout, and directly ahead on the other side of the valley is Mount Hay, Lockleys Pylon and Flat Top.

To the north-east is the horseshoe-shaped gorge, and along the top of the cliff you can see Cripps Lookout, Boyd Lookout and Pulpit Rock.

The lookout has some signage outlining distant landmarks, and has a small shelter with a picnic table.

Getting to George Phillips Lookout (and Fairfax Heritage Walk)

The quickest way to the lookout is via a short 600m return walk from the Govetts Leap Lookout carpark, along a paved track.

You can also reach the lookout via the Fairfax Heritage Walk, which is a 2.2km wheelchair-accessible path that skirts the edge of a hanging swamp. You can start the walk at either Govetts Leap Lookout or the Blue Mountains Heritage Centre.

The lookout is 2.9km fron Blackheath station (a 5min drive or 45min walk), or about 12km (15min) drive from Katoomba, in the Blue Mountains. It’s about two hours drive from Sydney.
