Summary: Perched on the edge of the cliff, the fenced Empress Lookout provides a view over the Jamison Valley, and down into the shaded Valley of the Waters and Empress Falls almost directly below.

A fenced and signposted vantage point over Valley of the Waters, Empress Lookout provides a glimpse of Empress Falls and the depths of the valley below.

As with all the other lookouts in the area, there’s a view into the Jamison Valley, and Mount Solitary partly hidden by a tree (the nearby Queen Victoria Lookout offers a less obstructed view).

1X3A6707 LR Empress Lookout - a glimpse into Valley of the Waters

The lookout is located just before the Valley of the Waters Track starts to descend steeply to Empress Falls and the National Pass.

Getting to Empress Lookout

The lookout is reached from the Conservation Hut at the end of Fletcher St (which is 2.5km from Wentworth Falls railway station) via the Valley of the Waters Track. It’s about an 800m return walk, or 1km return with the nearby Queen Victoria Lookout.
