Summary: Elder Range Lookout offers great views of the Elder Range, Wilpena Pound Range, and Chace Range. It's just off the Flinders Ranges Way, 24km north of Hawker.

Close to Arkaba Hill Lookout along the Flinders Ranges Way – and offering better views – is the Elder Range Lookout. As the name suggests, it offers a good view of the Elder Range (and Arkaba Hills) to the west. (Early morning would give you the best views of the Elder Range.)

Mount Aleck, the highest peak of the Elder Range, is clearly visible near the southern end of the range.

There’s also a great view of the Wilpena Pound Range (Akurra Ngami) to the north.

Some of the highest peaks of the Wilpena Pound Range – Pompey Pillar (1,168m), Beatrice Hill (1,146m), Harold Hill (1,071m) and Greig Peak (1,042m) are clearly visible.

To the east is the Chace Range.

Getting to Elder Range Lookout
