Summary: Situated at the end of Bald Head Ridge, Bald Head offers spectacular views over a large part of the Grose Valley and its towering cliffs. The informal lookout is reached via a 6.8km return bushwalk.

Two informal lookouts at Bald Head provide spectacular views over the Grose Valley. The edge of the ridge on the eastern side offers the most spectacular vista, with a view straight down the Grose Valley towards Burra Korrain, and to the long line of cliffs from Liversidge Hill and the Birrabang Walls to Walls Lookout and the Banks Wall.

Directly ahead, across the Grose Valley, stand the imposing cliffs below Rigby Hill and Walls Lookout.

A little further to the south is Mount Banks and Banks Wall.

To the north-west is Baltzer Lookout and Hanging Rock at the end of Burramoko Ridge.

The western side of Bald Head offers a better view of Baltzer Lookout and Hanging Rock, with Burra Korain Head stretching out behind.

Getting to Bald Head

The Bald Head via Hat Hill bushwalking trail from Hat Hill Road (Blackheath) follows the undulating ridge to a junction just before the end, where one track ascends the small hill, and the other descends to the edge of the cliffs on the eastern side. Allow 2-3 hours for the 6.8km return track.

The trailhead is on the sealed Hat Hill Road, just before it turns into the unsealed Perrys Lookdown Road, about 5.4km (7min drive) from Blackheath.
